Story Behind The Song
Charlie was a real man in a dusty Texas town. He ran a small business and took pride in his work ethic and character. With his dedication to being honest and fair, however came an unwillingness to submit to the righteousness of a Perfect God, so Charlie remained and atheist. His daugther, a Christian was with him during a painful battle with cancer and tried to share the good news of Jesus. She struggled with him to the very end. It is not as clear whether the real Charlie had a conversion experience, but we like to believe that Charlie made the right decision like he so often did when dealing with others.
Song Description
Charlie was a good man around town, but was his honesty and work ethic enough to stand before the Perfect Judge? Although the town would stand up for Charlie's integrity, he knows deep down he's not perfect, and in his last day's, his daugther leads him to be washed by the blood of Jesus.

Lyrics
Everyone knew Charlie was a very good man,
Years of honest work hardened only his hands,
And he always knew what's right and chose the same,
The town will miss him long,
He built his life on his word and his good name,
Now all that's gone
Men looked up to Charlie in our little town,
But times, he'd tell you, Charlie even let himself down,
"No One's Perfect" is good enough for me,
But I'm no righteous judge,
A man is guilty in his thoughts and in his deeds,
Unless washed by the blood.
CHORUS
Washed by the blood of Jesus,
Washed by the blood,
Clean and guiltless in Christ, He sees us,
Washed by the Blood
In the end, ol' Charlie was ready to go,
She looked at him said "Daddy, you're the best man I know"
But take your sins and I'll meet you at this place,
The cross of Jesus Christ,
He squeezed her hand as she saw him filled with grace,
With tears in his eyes.
CHORUS
Washed by the blood of Jesus
Washed by the blood
Clean and guiltless in Christ, He sees us
Washed by the Blood
CHORUS
Washed by the blood of Jesus
Washed by the blood
Clean and guiltless in Christ, He sees us
Washed by the Blood
