Story Behind The Song
Jessica was a twenty-three year old lady with a mind of a ten year old. She had an operation on her back that messed up her nerves, to the point it affected her brain.
I had to do everything with an electric lift and wheelchair to make Jessica comfortable.
She had the best of spirits and music was her first love, she had no idea that I was a singer and songwriter. So I decided to surprise her by letting her help me write a song.
We use to tease one another by saying "Girl you got it goin on!" When one day suddenly, we realized that the title of our song could be, You Got It Goin On. So that's what we called the song
Song Description
I challenged Jessica to help with a song that needed to be recorded in the studio within a week.
Not knowing how I was going to get her into the studio we kept on putting a song together.
Her favorite song was Amazing Grace but she didn't want it to sound like the traditional song in the hymnal books. My engineer said, "No problem we'll jazz it up!"
We completed this song in two days and went into the recording studio in four days. My engineer was so impressed that he built a ramp in three hours just to make sure the wheelchair would fit in the doorway.
So this song is about how a wheelchair bound girl full of God's grace and happiness reminded a potential songwriter how she needed to count her Blessings as well as embrace less fortunate dreamers.
