Cryininabarrel

Story Behind The Song

i actually damaged my ulner nerve in my left hand trying to complete one of the bass lines in this song. This left my pinky and ring fingers numb for two years. I don't have the conditioning required to sustain that level of expectation with that instrument for this length or duration. I did wind up finishing the recording but my left hand was beyond protest nearly half way through. My refusal to stop left me with a very significant problem in coming years. Today, I must gradually work into and up to speed when playing to avoid my hand swelling up like a balloon. Years of newspaper delivery left me with tennis elbow and tendonitis in both arms. Just slightly revisiting that types of activity has my elbows in a rage. There is not much more to talk about regarding the song. It was a very dreamy relaxed wall of sound thing that encouraged me to place some urgency in tension and contrast to it's original lilting wander through time. That is precisely what the additional bass/drum loop does. The piece has the effect of being both urgent, directed and calmly, serene. However, you can hear throughout the song the hi-hat track is recorded in reverse.

Song Description

A lilting wanderlust, languishing in the outskirts of the Universe, looking out and down into the galaxy of life to watch the progression of life roll out and forward on to bigger and better landscapes and vista's. As with everything I do. There is the contrast between light-heavy, soft-hard, light-dark, this piece being neither fish nor fowl. Ying-yang all together at once.
