Story Behind The Song

My roommate and I created Sherpa about a year ago, we are a production duo looking to change the way HipHop is viewed, we want to embody the DIY spirit so we bought our own Neumann mic on our own dime and got a studio space in which to record our own music. We taught ourselves how to engineer, produce, and in my case Rap on beat. We both had been somewhat struggling musicians before we met each other but once we came together to form Sherpa (the name symbolizes our long climb up the mountain and how we help each other to get there) something clicked, we began to grow from young boys wanting to be pop stars to real men who make music for the sole reason of expressing our vision and perspective. We really believe you've never heard anyone like us.

Song Description

A look back on the long road it took to accepting my path as a musician and emcee. The song is from the emcees perspective of a young man becoming a grown one, he details all the people he's met who've touched his life but he's ultimately had to push aside because they don't directly help him to his goals of being a national level musician, which is all he lives for anymore. Lyrics

(Verse 1)
thinking about you, walking down the old avenue
so bold, eyes so blue, everything we do, turns to gold
24 karats, this my season roger maris 61, started drinking way before 21
young gun top gun, just gotta cruise,
kissing on her bruise
reminsicng over a brew, that bare brick, falls down on you
built a house for two, let the flame douse boo,

(Little Dragon Sings Chorus)

(Bridge)
I been thinking bout the future baby
I been thinking bout the future lately

(2nd verse)
sometimes lines don't have to be scripted, my angel got me lifted,
gifted, like she got talents, see her through the spectrum & balance
the light shines down on the concrete, oh so lonesome street,
keep walking down, people talking now
I couldn't hear shit, whispers and the shifts
working so hard taking new shifts,
but the ocean currents drift, rift
the patchwork was ripped,
tragic how we slipped, keep thinking bout it
miss, what're we getting out of this?
couldn't look within us really just beginners
couple lover sinners, write a novel over dinner
thinking how the meals just don't feel the same
kneeling down to pray, whats god gotta say?
thinking bout what I odda - say
such a journey such an oddysey
but I'm getting back to that island bae
jumping in your arms off the island bay
running thru asylums hey, nobodies perfect
but you know I make it worth it,
lying on the ground without a care in the world
adore , I need more, endure, for endorphins
your sun is so important, my life keeps maturin
