Story Behind The Song
I was on a call with a good friend of mine, Daniel Runyon, one night, mind you his calls were epically long, talking to me about everything from Star Wars, the last thing his son did that amazed him, film making, mowing a big field ect.. for a minimum of two hours usually. On this particular night We end the call after talking for 2 and 1/2 hours, my wife, at the time, and I were headed to bed and I see my cell phone ring again and its Daniel. I look at her and say I am not answering it. A couple of minutes later I look and see a voicemail pop up so I listen to it and Daniel says "Oh good i was hoping you wouldn't answer I was thinking that since your back into writing songs I had a good song idea for ya "If You're Leavin', Please leave me the beer" and he ends the call and so was born Don't Take the Beer.

Lyrics
Don't Take the Beer
Shawn Ash/CJ Solar/Paul Gasparro © 2008
You can take the TV
You can take the couch
You can take the cell phones
And the keys to the house
But there's just one thing I need here
If you're leavin'
Don't Take the Beer
It ain't hard to see
It ain't hard to understand
I came home last night and you were drinking with another man
You might think you're the only one I want
You might think you're the only thing I need
Let me make this perfectly clear
If you're leavin
Don't Take the Beer
You can take the pictures
You can take the bed
You can take your mother
And all the sweet things she said
But there's just one thing I need here
If you're leavin
Don't Take the Beer
It ain't hard to see
It ain't hard to understand
Drinkin' my beer was bad enough
But you drank it with my best friend
You might think you're the only one I want
You might think you're the only thing I need
Let me make this perfectly clear
If you're leavin
Don't Take the Beer
(Solo)
It ain't hard for me
It ain't hard to understand
You can take everything I own
But my heart lives in these cans
You might think you're the only thing I want
You might think you're the only one I need
Let me make this perfectly clear
If you're leavin
If you're leavin
If you're leavin
Don't you take my........Beer
