Story Behind The Song
First, the line "30 days of September, April, June, I can't remember" came to me in the shower. Not long after that, I was walking home from practice behind a hooker that had a big cross on the back of her shirt (right above her short shorts and fishnets). I started bouncing around the phrases "Sister Mary, now can you see, what your little habit does to me". From there, everything started falling into place. The backward guitar in the beginning was my wordless way of toying with the "replay" of the "yesterdays and nights" of the protagonists' love affair. I tossed in a little homage to a favorite song "Heaven's Just A Sin Away" at the end, because the two songs sort of had a kinship.

Lyrics
Yesterdays & Nights
words/music copyright 2002, Seven Harkey
30 days of September
April, June, I can't remember
How long ago we fell face down in love
-------
I try to keep those curtains closed
But (aww) I want the world to know
About this little angel from below
Sister Mary, now can you see?
What your little habit does to me?
Got one hand on the cross and one in mine
-------
Drumbeat Red and a cocky walk
Man, them sinners, they gonna talk
About when you lick your lips of communion wine
Oh, Sunday to Sunday
Honey let me count the ways
We traded wrongs for a right
Sunday to Sunday
Gotta hide my love away
Replay the Yesterdays & Nights
30 days of September
April, June, I can't remember
How long ago we fell down from grace
-------
And if there's truth to what they say
And heaven is just a sin away
Then, Lord, I've got the key to your pearly gates
Oh, Sunday to Sunday
Honey let me count the ways
Please say two wrongs made a right
Sunday to Sunday
Gotta hide my love away
Replay those Yesterdays & Nights
