Story Behind The Song
I'd broken up with my ex. I thought I was ready to move on until he came to town and said he was seeing someone else.
"Is she coming to town for the holidays?" I asked.
"Yes," he said.
"When is she coming?" I asked.
"She's coming on Friday," he replied.
I couldn't get those words out of my mind.
I sat down that very afternoon and wrote this entire song.

Lyrics
Such a lot of things that I've done wrong and you remind me every chance you get
While I wait on you hand and foot you lie in bed and smoke your cigarette
So many different things that you've been doing
Now all of them are catching up with me because
SHE'S COMING ON FRIDAY
You've been reading the latest magazines and rummaging through your clothes for something nice to wear
I really want to scream at you and tell you to go to Hell but I don't dare
Who'd have thought of all the many people
You're hiding from that one of them'd be me because
SHE'S COMING ON FRIDAY
AND YOU'VE BEEN SMILING AND DANCING 'ROUND THE ROOM
WHISTLING AN UNFAMILIAR TUNE
AND I KNOW, I KNOW THE END WILL BE HERE SOON
SHE'S COMING ON FRIDAY
Smiling and dancing 'round the room
Smiling and dancing 'round the room
Smiling and dancing 'round the room
And each beat spells out my doom
AND YOU'VE BEEN SMILING AND DANCING 'ROUND THE ROOM
WHISTLING AN UNFAMILIAR TUNE
AND I KNOW, I KNOW THE END WILL BE HERE SOON
SHE'S COMING ON FRIDAY
