Story Behind The Song
I lost my father to a drug overdose when I was 17 and it took me over four years to finally sit down and put all of my emotions into lyrics. It was very unexpected situation and I was very close to my dad when I was young. The song goes through all of the emotions I felt through out the grieving process with the bridge coming to terms with everything. The bridge basically says I will always love you dad no matter what happened in the past and I look forward to seeing you again in heaven.

Lyrics
Are You Listening Now
Words and music written by: Sarah VonderHaar, Bill Covert and Dave Uhrich copyright 2007
Now when I look back to the days, the days when I was young
You tucked me in my bed with the songs you always sung
Eating ice cream in the summer, stories that you told
Our talks into the evening never once got old
Are you listening now
I never got to say
Goodbye to you
I'll see you again someday, someday
My life came crashing down, when I received that call
And on that fateful day I too began to fall
You made me stronger than I knew I could be
All those mistakes you made have only made me, me
Are you listening now
I never got to say
Goodbye to you, my father
See you again someday, someday, someday, someday
Cause I don't hate you dad, I just only wish I said
I forgive for your problems, the things we never did
Forgive me for my anger, I forgave you for the pain
Always and forever
Are you listening now
I never got to say
Goodbye to you, my father
See you again someday
Are you listening now
I never got to say
Goodbye to you, my father
See you again
See you again
I never got to say
Goodbye, goodbye
