Story Behind The Song
This song was NOT written about the VT shooter of April 16th, 2007. I was written in December of 2001 as a "what if" scenario after an argument with my wife. But you would never know that without my telling you so.
Ronnie Winstead laid down the guitars and I sang it. Apart from the love of God, we are all capable of becoming such "monsters."
Song Description
The account of a man who "goes postal" and the questions that follow his rampage.

Lyrics
?Could It Be?
-Vs.1-
He went inside the first place that he came to,
Pulled out a gun and fired all around the room.
He never stopped to think about what to do,
He just opened up and let his anger spew.
-Chorus-
Could it be, his mother didn?t care?
Could it be, his dad was never there?
Could it be, he had no friend to call?
Or could it be, the monster in us all?
-Vs.2-
The TV anchor posed the question on our minds,
What would push a man to be so unkind?
Had he lost his job, his wife or his mind?
Hoping there was an answer we could find.
-Chorus-
Could it be, his mother didn?t care?
Could it be, his dad was never there?
Could it be, he had no friend to call?
Or could it be, the monster in us all?
-Bridge-
We like to think we?re all so innocent,
From little babies to the President.
We catch our breath at the evil we resent,
Ignoring full our own sel-fish intent.
So tell me, what could it be?
Tell me, what could it be,
That has us all so, evil bent?
-Final Chorus-
Could it be that none of us are really clean?
Could it be that sin could make us all so mean?
Could it be that God sees into our hearts?
Could it be a monster?s what we really are?
