Lyrics
I had friends in Bay View
I had friends living on the East Side
They don't know the person that I've become
Years gone by, no contact
No address, lost in the great big unknown
How I long to relive those old times again
When I left Milwaukee, headed South to Houston
It was nearly 30 below
I could feel my body thaw, the farther South I drove
Flyin' down the highway hoping to find my way
Thinking of the friends left behind
"Will we ever meet again?", was the thought that filled my mind, life's unkind
I had friends, some married
I had friends, some who were living alone
I don't know what's changed since we last shared a beer
When I call, no answer
When I write, comes back "Don't live here no more"
Where'd I lose the good friends that kept me alive
Sittin' round a fire, flames keep reaching higher
Telling stories one after one
Passin' round a drink or two, watching the stars fall down
See the moon a'rising, stars above colliding
Dodging all the planes in the sky
Many years have come and gone as I sit and wonder why, I can't find
My old friends,
My old friends,
My old friends,
Can they hear me calling them?
I just got to find my old friends
