Rich Man's Holiday

Story Behind The Song

It's from a news story about a super rich magnate who paid twenty milion dollars for a trip on the space shuttle. I wondered whether they were looking for the ultimate thrill. Then afterwards what is left for them to achieve. I guessed maybe the only thing left was reflection. And the only thing they can't buy is time travel (yet?) to get back whatever it is they feel they lost! Mid life crisis makes men irrational. Strange that you don't hear about it in women.

Lyrics

RICH MAN'S HOLIDAY

What can I do today?
Maybe fly down to LA
Hang with Jack and the pack!
Sippin' pinas shooting smack!
Pro-celeb Palm Springs
Me and Tiger go swing for swing
Fly back NYC
Wall Street always welcomes me

Rich man's holiday
Caviar and cigars
Buying trips on rocket ships
Boats that go faster than cars!

Building cable-cars to Mars
Make a trillion bucks in a couple of hours
Living life for gain
Champagne suppers in Park Lane
Fly to London Town
Royal Ascot kings and crowns
Paris in the spring
Pretty models eye-lashing

Rich man?s holiday
Supersonic jets
Golden Caribbean beaches
Empires where suns never set
E-mail the kids for me if I forget

I was very young
Wishing I was old
Now I?m in between
God I feel so cold
Could we start again
Changing lanes could lose you friends
But if I heard the call
Would I recognise the door

My kind of holiday
Is watching you when you smile
Or leading you to the dance floor
When the DJ plays ?Stay with me ?till Dawn?
Then I?d take you home

My kind of holiday
Is you meeting me when I work late
And we?d walk along long summer lanes
And I?d chase you through your gate
Wouldn?t it just be great!
