Story Behind The Song

It was written after watching a friend go through a marriage break-up not of his choosing or making. I watched him go through all the stages. Grief stages. I guess when it happens so fast and you didn't know she was cheating and you're shown the door wih your bags packed (it was her place!) it's grief, like a death. You don't know where to go or what to do. The stages change from grim to happier though. I watched him come out the other side and move up and on, eventually. But at the outset the songs title was there in his eyes! Frightening.
