Story Behind The Song
This song harks back to 1997 when I wrote the original melody and the basic lyrics. However when I looked at this again in 2004 I needed to make a few alterations and it was only then that the song seemed to work.
Song Description
This is one of my best string arrangements, very simple but effective. This is a nice pre-summer song, just the sort of song for springtime. The song is about breaking free from your past demons and waiting for the brighter times to arrive.

Almost Summer

VERSE ONE:
I was stuck inside a daydream to not come true
Spinning around in circles in a world of blue
But a light inside my darkness took me from the shade
I know I don?t belong here where the heartaches are made
The nights are getting lighter
The sun is getting brighter
And from this I know that summer?s getting near
CHORUS:
Almost summer, here for all to see
Almost summer, it?s with you I want to be
Almost summer, we know it?s on its way
Almost summer, I know you won?t delay
From giving me all your summer love
VERSE TWO:
Every cloud has blown away, feeling free again
It?s time for me to tell my heart that I?ve found love again
Now I feeling strong I?m gonna see this summer through
Take the chance I have this time, cast the crying from the view
The nights are getting lighter
The sun is getting brighter
And from this I know that summer?s getting near
REPEAT CHORUS
VERSE THREE: INSTRUMENTAL
The nights are getting lighter
The sun is getting brighter
And from this I know that summer?s getting near
REPEAT CHORUS
