The brilliant book of you

Story Behind The Song

My girlfriend discovered she has avoidant personality disorder. And Depression. I wrote a series of songs dealing with how I coped personally. This is a disorder only discovered in the 80's. Basically these people are scared of love. Spend more time in bad relationships. In our case our THe sad thing is these people find real love and get scared. At a young age, due to childhood trauma, They learn that Love is Pain, and they can only count on themselves. Example watch Good Will Hunting or Prince of Tides. They know something is not adding up but they cant help there deactivation stradegy. This song was written from the troubled souls point of view. It can be relative to many situations. Depression, Alcoholism, Any kind of feeling of inadequacy.

Song Description

I very Moving song dealing with the layers of doubt, and internal stadegies certain people use to look for their inner peace. The problem is when these people look for answers , many of them look into themselves. That is where the problem exists though. Listening to the negative Cognitive distortions that have put them back into the cycle. The to the song in in the second part of the last Chorus. We all have our own book. When searching for answers, we must read every word, even looking at ourselves through others eyes. Every word makes up the brilliant book.

Lyrics

The brilliant book of you

Its hard to remember
A time in your life
That feeling of comfort
No struggle or strife
You've wrestled with demons
and swallowed your pride

Chorus;
What keeps you up at night
And speaks of what you hide
Rereading all you've been through
Are ghosts weaving tales through
The brilliant book of you

You've prayed to someone
You doubt you will meet
Ask for direction and
Fall to your knees
With hour glass fading
The sands running low

Chorus;
What keeps you up at night
And speaks of what you hide
Rereading all you've been through
Are ghosts weaving tales through
The brilliant book of you

To love yourself is a gift you can hold
But to share that love is a
Piece of your soul

Who speaks of what you hide
And keeps you up at night
Reliving all you've been through
Are just ghosts reading tales from
The brilliant book
Read every part of it
Don't skip one bit
Through the cracks shines the truth
For every beautiful word fills
The brilliant book of you
