Lime Green 4 Door Toyota

Story Behind The Song

A friend of mine suggested telling a practical joke to kill some time while waiting in between song performers. It didn't work, but I added some verses and a catchy story line, wha-la a song.

Song Description

A struggling cowboy takes the only transportation he has to a bar, where he is annoyed and interrupted by the bartender trying to get the owner of a certain vehicle (his)to move your car. It attracts such attention that he is finally forced to give up on the girl he had almost persuaded, and leave before his car gets towed. Add a little bit of luck to the final surprise ending.

Lyrics

I was making the rounds gaining ground
on this cute little brunette
In a bar in Fort Worth Texas
One night I'll never forget
Then the bartender ruined my plans
and brought me back to reality
as he took the stage in a fit of rage
like he was talking right at me

Would the owner of a Lime Green 4 Door Toyota
with two yellow doors
Please come to the parking lot and move your car
to the parking lot next door
You're not blocking any exits we just want your car gone
If you're the owner of a Lime Green 4 Door Toyota
with two yellow doors

Oh gosh, I didn't want to get up right now
and lose my place in line
'cause I know if I just had 5 more minutes
that brunette would be mine
Yea, I had her convinced my worthless friends
had gone and abandoned me
She was about to give in then once again
that bartender cut in

If you're the owner of a Lime Green 4 Door Toyota
with two yellow doors
Sheep skin interior, a cardboard window,
and pillows on the floor
hey this is your final warning your car's getting towed
If you're the owner of a Lime Green 4 Door Toyota
with two yellow doors

Well a crowd had gathered in the parking lot
to see if such a car did exist
and when I got in my car they all had their laughs
all at my expense
But my story does not end there
no, a fortune did unfold
When that cute little girl crawled in the back seat
and said "taxi, take me home"

Well thank God I'm the owner of a Lime Green 4 Door Toyota
with two yellow doors
sheep skin interior, a cardboard window, and yea,
those are pillows on the floor
Hey but don't feel sorry for me
That's how I met my wife
Now she's the owner of a Lime Green 4 Door Toyota
with two yellow doors

Oh, Lime Green 4 Door Toyota with two yellow doors
