Story Behind The Song
A Sharpie Tattoo is a hand drawn tattoo image, created by someone with a thick permanent marker (a Sharpie) In my song I say that her part in our relationship was shallow and non-comittal and that it simply suited her at the time, just like having a sharpie tattoo at a rock festival but rubbing it off a couple of weeks later. There's also some mileage in the lyrics about wanting to get under her skin and looking for something that's permanent. It works on many levels and I'm proud of it.
Song Description
A relflection on the sadness felt at the end of a underdeveloped relationship. Deals with comittment and the different needs of partners which are often confused in the heat of love

Lyrics
∞ Sharpie Tattoo ∞
She wore on her arm
A sharpie tattoo
And it looked kinda cool
And the way that she was
Made me feel pretty good
Like she was feeling me too
I know I'm fooling myself
But for the sake of my health
I'll roll with this as far as it goes
And in the back of my mind
I'm finding words to rhyme
I know that you will always be cool
Like your sharpie tattoo
In the back of the car
We talked of love and guitars
And music for the heart and the soul
We shared experience, we made a lot of sense
And wondered just how far we could go
And when a little help
Comes from nobody else
I?ll wish my way right under your skin
Where you?re so pleased with me
For a couple of weeks
Before fading to a memory or two
Like your sharpie tattoo
This is as far as I go
I have to leave you I know
There's nothing in the world I can do
I guess that something so right
Just wouldn't last in daylight
A wonderful illusion for two
Like your sharpie tattoo
