Humboldt

Story Behind The Song

Wrote this tune after an early morning visit to Humbold park here in Chicago. I started noticing all these extreme contrasts: -Downtown Skyscrapers in the distance/trees & park -children playing/homeless people -nature sounds/police sirens -flowers/trash Anyway -- I sat down by a pond with my guitar and started to play. All these geese started swimming up to me like they were coming to listen. Then, out of nowhere, they started fighting ferociously and splashing me. It was just all a very weird experience that inspired this composition. *The "free"/out section in the middle of the piece is the the big goose fight... with the sax and cello noises mimicking them :)
