Delicate Poise

Story Behind The Song

When we started to play a lot of music, we had to move away from our beautiful home on Skagit River in the upper Cascades and move closer to Seattle where the nightlife beckoned and welcomed our music.

Song Description

The song speaks to the natural change in everything, i.e. the fields as they change from summer to fall to winter, the way that rivers run and don't stay constant and the fact that although we'd like to stay stationary and feel safe we have to move and accept change. Change as non negotiable - it will happen and there's nothing to do but go with it.

Lyrics

Delicate Poise

It?s a delicate poise,
a precarious balance
In the changing of the fields
In a star strung sky
In the sounds of rivers passing
Good-bye

It?s a tangled web
Of winter branches
Strung with beads
With beads of color coming
Springs going down
in these hills that we must leave soon
Good-bye

And it?s all in the chance
Such a careful dance,
Rivers run
But it?s night time in the city
Calling so sweetly
Come to me, come to me
Come dance with me
You gotta let change have it?s way with you
?Cause it?s going to
?Cause it?s going to
