Lyrics
My boy brought home a paper--pinned to his sleeve.
He said--Daddy can we do this before you have to leave?
My pre-school teacher made sure that it got home.
She said it was a survey that I couldn't do alone.
We counted all the windows and counted all the doors,
We even drew a picture showing all the floors.
We listed all the bathrooms we have in our house,
Then we had to draw some lines showing the way out.
CHORUS
He's the one who looked after Mommy when she got sick last year.
He's the one you talk to late at night--thru your tears.
He's always been apart of our little family.
Why would he be counted with you, Sis and me.
The very last question on the school survey form,
Was how many people live in your home?
He said there's me and you and Sis makes three.
I said that's it and that's all there's going to be.
Off he went on his merry little way,
Grabbed his hat and headed out to play,
He stopped and turned around halfway out the door.
He said--Daddy I've just got one question more.
REPEAT CHORUS
Why didn't you think you had to tell the truth?
You forgot to count the man that lives up on the roof.
You know the one you point to just before you say.
We've got to trust in Him--He'll show us the way.
I hugged my boy and said I really love you son.
I guess I did leave out the most important one.
Tomorrow you tell in our family we have more,
There's you and me and Sis makes three and God that makes four.
REPEAT CHORUS
