SWEET POISON

Story Behind The Song

A friend of mine once told me that he thought women were like poisen in that the harm it does you depends on how much you take. The very next night I was visiting with a girl and it suddenly occured to me that this was the girl my buddy was talking about. Wrote the song in about twenty minutes.

Lyrics

Yea, we all do it, even when we see it coming.
With eyes wide open we do it anyway.

Now I'm looking at some blue eyes, and beautiful blonde hair,
But there's an element of poisen and it's swirling around her'

(chorus)
It's that sweet poisen, lay some here on my lip.
It's that sweet poisen, give me a sip.

II.
She sure looks good,
sure she would taste like some mighty fine wine.
But enjoy a little too much and she'll bring you down in time.

But not all poisen kills you,
might even taste like a strawberry shake
Secret to enjoying is knowing how much to take,

(chorus)
It's that sweet poisen, lay some here on my lip,
It's that sweet poisen, give me a sip,

(last chorus tag)
Lay some on my lip.
Take me on yout trip.
