Chasing After The Wind

Story Behind The Song

Taken from the book of Ecclesiastes, this song talks about how short life is and sometimes just how meaningless it seems however, when it comes right down to brass tacks, Fearing in the Lord and trusting Him is really the only thing that counts.

Lyrics

Seems like yesterday when it began
Watching the river, the river bend
It seems to never end
It seems to never end
And it's not good business my friend
to be Chasing After The Wind
No it's not good business my friend to be Chasing After The Wind.

The wind blows south, the wind blows north ever returning on it's course
It goes in circles again and again
Again and Again, Again and Again.

And it's not good business my friend
to be Chasing After The Wind
No it's not good business my friend to be Chasing After The Wind.

All your riches are meaningless
cause when you die they go to someone else
All your knowledge, all your wealth
It seems so meaningless

What does it profit, if you gain the whole world
But in return you lose your soul - repeat
Is it worth it, Is it worth it, all your silver and all your gold, all your silver and all your gold.

Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust
Fear the Lord and give Him your trust
Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust
Put in Him your trust, Put in Him your trust
Cause it ain't good business my friend to be chasing after the wind
No it ain't good business my friend to be chasing after the wind, No it ain't good business my friend to be chasing after the wind.

Nice little bit of counterpoint happening in some parts of this tune. Your basic mix was decent, keep on writing!

It almost sounds 60's psychedelic. It's very creative and a nice stab at protest music from the Hippy Music Era. I wish the vocal was a tad louder in volume, sometimes it's hard to understand every lyric. It's has a hypnotic feel and keeps the listener engaged, grand job...let's hear more!!

Nice guitar, nice guitar riff.

Unique approach to song writing and arrangement - refreshing! Loved the dropping bass note.

Lyrically and melodically, this is a very strong song. I've never heard a Christian song about this topic...ever. It hits on several scriptural concepts: Chasing after stuff that doesn't matter and "The wind blows where it wishes." Kind of cool to combine both those concepts successfully in one song. There's an excellent electric guitar lead in there. I also like the reference "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust", very well done.

I think there's a great feel and mood to it and I'd say potential but to really get there I think it needs some work.

Catchy guitar work that could work with more development using contemporary sounds. The low, whispering vocals work. The minimalist bass line is also effective for the song

i always appreciate a good message in a song
