Story Behind The Song

The premise of the idea actually came to me after I watched the movie "Mother!" [Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem]. I completely understood the allegory of the film, but I found myself siding with Jennifer's character ["Mother Nature"] more-so than feeling as if I should be keen to Javier's character ["God"] more; being a Man/Artist who can relate to the passion of his character. I conjured up this premise, mixed it into my own reality as a Black man, and made a song that is meant to place Women on a high pedestal, while also being transparent as to how I feel as a vulnerable Man.

Song Description

This is a conversational piece, that is intended to speak to all Women in the World at once, as if I am speaking to Mother Earth, and Mother Earth equals every Woman on the planet. It's performed as if I'm singing to one specific woman, with the intent of showcasing one Man's will to be vulnerable, yet transparent, in the way I genuinely feel about myself when in the presence of Women who carry themself with a high stature of dignity. I'm not [technically] speaking for all Men, but in this case, I'm putting myself out there as a catalyst for Men like me who may feel similar.

Lyrics

So I realized I wanna give you all my attention [Only you, Only you] /
But do I deserve a right to reserve,
a seat at your table? /
Cause I've been inconsistent /
I've been lacking persistence /
Way too good at making excuses /
I wanna lie, but the truth is /
Everytime I see you,
I wish that we were exclusive /
I don't know what you're used to,
But I wanna be all inclusive /
No foolish-i'm-too-cool shit,
I respect you /
I like you, you don't need me,
but I want you /
We vibe /
I like your energy and your smile /
I vouch for you /
You make all your haters take a bow /
You got my Attention,
Girl you got my Attention /
This aint a song,
it's a conversation /
Issa bout WE, fuck a delegation /
I am not afraid to tell you how I feel
I know you're a Goddess -
It aint hard for me to see -
It's crystal clear /
I'm being defensive cause I...
feel I'm unimpressive to your peers,
that may not be true,
but I'm keepin it real /
I spent too much on lying to myself,
I'm in arrears /
When you speak to me,
I reinvest your words -
I'm sowing seeds -
You kick the knowledge /
Would you find it ironic...
if I thought you wouldn't appreciate
a Nigga being opposite of modest? /
Cause you've got my Attention /
Yeah you got it,
I'm good if you don't like it /
This aint a song, its a deposit /
You represent a Queen,
I'll make you an offer /
