Story Behind The Song
I've always found religious literalism profoundly irritating...this song is one of my ways of addressing that irritation.
Song Description
The gentle little intro riff was the seed that created this particular tune. It grew into quite a sprawling creation by the time I was done writing it. I am especially fond of the almost-cinematic instrumental break in the middle. Lyrically, it addresses the superficiality of human religions and the way we tend to mistake the symbol of a thing for its essence.

Lyrics
I'm here all around you,
my essence surrounds you.
But temporal trappings confound you.
And nothing I impart can ground you.
You toil in vain to define me,
wondrous words to confine me.
Your prayers and totems can't bind me.
With tools like these you'll not find me.
The world is an illusion
where you dwell amidst confusion
that dulls all resolution,
turns conviction into dissolution.
The spaces between moments beseech you.
The singularity entreats you.
The universe has so much to teach you
but it may never reach you.
