Nothing to Say

Story Behind The Song

This song started out with the chord progression of the chorus, which is the strongest part of the song. The song doesn't have a lot of meaning to it but it's about when your relationship with someone is dying and you have "nothing to say". I recorded the demo of this just before I went to a university interview in Canterbury in February 2008. The verses were written really quickly and are a bit of a joke so they'll probably be changed when I record the song properly. I'm quite pleased with the chorus of this song and I find it quite emotional. The Fmaj7 to Cmin7 chord change is probably the strongest chord change in any of my songs. I re-recorded the demo of this song a few weeks later and changed the key, added harmonies in the chorus and put in a saxophone solo. I also took out the piano interludes.
