Song Description
- Six of my uncles fought in WWII. Two were lost, one of whom was my uncle Philip. Philip was a navigator aboard a B-17, lost over the Mediterranean in 1943. The rest of my uncles were all pilots and one flew 50 missions during the war (he was allowed to go home after 25). He survived the war, commanded an Atlas missile silo in the Midwest for 9 years and retired a Lt. Colonel. Brave men I am proud to call my uncles. Philip, I am told, was the sweetest brother of all, so one day, while thinking about the sacrifice he and others like him made for our country, I wrote this song. It is dedicated to the equally brave men and women who are flying today in B-52s above Afghanistan and Iraq doing the same job as my uncles did 50 years ago.

Lyrics
Where does all the time go?
Count one, two, three
Never seem to notice
Time passing me
Only 20 years
My brothers learned to fly
My job's to guide the craft
Five by five
Trained am I to be
Your soldier in the sky
But what I know . . .
Here the trouble comes
No-one's here to run
Time to face the sun
High and tight
Blazing are the guns
Three, then two and one
What I know . . .
Here the trouble comes
Time to start the run
Another mother's son
Gone, bye, bye
I protect the weak
Don't ask how it's my job
But what I know . . .
Only 20 years
My brothers learned to fly
My job's to guide this plane
Five by five
Trained am I to be
Your soldier in the sky
But what I know . . .
Where does all the time go?
Count one, two, three
Never seem to notice
Time is passing me . . .
