Story Behind The Song
This is the first song I wrote after moving from London to a small village in southern Spain. It was just after my band, record deal and publishing deal fell apart so it´s basically about the kind of surreal confusion about all the forced changes in my life that were going on at the time.

Lyrics
what it takes
if i was not here i would be nowhere
disowning whoever i once was
so i have become somebody nobody can find
the truth is i’m lost this time
but there ain’t no shame prayin’ in the rain
when that is what it takes to get me through
and it don’t feel strange seeing you again
oh my angel can’t you see i’m bleeding?
and this september rain ain’t gonna heal me
it’s too late to lay your hands on now
but just before you ask for more remember who you are
and why it is you’ve come so far
but there ain’t no shame prayin’ in the rain
when that is what it takes to get me through
and it don’t feel strange seeing you again
oh my angel can’t you see i’m bleeding?
and you can’t see what i can see
you’re on the outside looking in
and you don’t know what it is like
these are the longest days
the longest days and the darkest nights
