Story Behind The Song
I worked as a letter carrier for the Post Office for over 3 years. I met someone at work one day who eventually became a very good friend of mine. This song is about that experience.

Lyrics
MY BUDDY
I was sitting in the park taking my lunch break
When I heard a kitten crying out like it had a bellyache.
When it just kept a crying I searched up in the air
And then I saw that kitten small stranded way up there.
Well, I wondered how it got there; did it fall down from the sky?
Or did a dog chase it and scare it up that high?
Was it orphaned by its family and adopted by a squirrel?
Was he a he or she a she, was he a boy or she a girl?
My Buddy the cat, he?s a happy, playful boy.
He crept his way into my life and filled it with such joy.
By Buddy the cat, I found him in a tree;
I had to climb a ladder tall to bring him home with me.
Well, I went back ?round to get him down later in that day
And I was scared to climb up there, but I climbed up anyway.
Now he makes our house a happy home and he fills it with sunlight
And he?s by my head, in the bed, when were sleeping late at night.
