Story Behind The Song
I had a series of flights as I was preparing to quit a job and they were in such close conjunction that I became sort of dazed and contemplative about how the experience of flying is like a metaphor for life itself, the planning, the arc of the journey, the people you spend it with, and what your attitude is on the flight.
Song Description
A song about the anxiety of flight, and how calm and organized a flight on an airplane is made to seem, but how it is magical and beautiful, but also scary. You can die at any moment. How everyone on the flight has this feeling but you kind of ignore it by distracting yourself and how that is like life and knowing you're going to die someday.

Lyrics
Your body may burst
under pressure
a fall from 8 miles up
Seem like it might hurt
close these back doors
Now I'm just yours
I'm afraid of magic
wish i were at home
I'd seek a reason to party hard
Candy ravers, kids in graveyards
sing with me tonight
your body
flatlines
Curse these
airlines
for flying
over
the ocean
all the time
Your body may catch fire
it seems an awful way to go
We could crash into a mountainside
the fuselage may explode
there's a half a million ways to die
and she put me in this emergency row?
It doesn't matter
that he never wrote to her
So she made it through two wars?
just born babies, guys on dramomine
sing with me tonight
your heartbeat
flatlines
Curse these
airlines
for flying
over
the ocean
all the time
