Story Behind The Song
I co-wrote Going to Spain after my mother passed away. She was a Spanish teacher and had a childhood friend in Mexico, but she never saw Spain so I decided that she would make a stop there on her way to heaven. The co-writers include Mexican and Cuban musicians Victor Muñoz and Danny Tudela. The talented percussion player/drummer from Mexico is Raphael de los Reyes, Anne Marie Stehn graces the song with her bass playing and Catherine Boyd adds beauty with her violin.

Lyrics
Went to bed at 2 a.m. was up again at 5
To catch a plane to see you one last time
But you left before I had the chance to say goodbye
So I guess I'll just watch over some things you left behind
I know when you wake up and when you go to sleep
You'll be looking out at rolling hills, grass and trees
Instead of red brick walls and dusty memories
But just to see you one more time I'd walk my feet down to my knees
So you're finally going to see Spain
Now my world won't be the same
I always knew you'd cross the ocean there
It was just a matter of when
Royalty bow, ladies curtsey for you
Doña Condesa is what you are called
I love and miss you but I know we'll meet again
In El Camino on Vista del Sol
I'm sorry for the times I had you pulling out your hair
I'm sorry for the times that I just wasn't there
An unacknowledged heroine, you humbly did great things
Lavished me with deep roots and powerful wings
Chorus
Dancing Flamenco in Andalucia
Drinking vino in Madrid and Barcelona
Photos by the fountains of the Alhambra in Granada
Breathing in El Greco, Velazguez and Goya
Chorus
The dark clouds hovering over me
Can't overshadow the love that you've shown me
I love and miss you but I know we'll meet again
In El Camino on Vista del Sol
