Lonely Fool

Story Behind The Song

Lonely Fool is one of my earliest creations and has a similar feel as some of the other songs I'd written during that time. Sorrow, pain, and heartache. I think that subject matter, though, has much more to do with the music I was listening to at the time, rather than my own personal emotions. (No....I'm not depressed) You try listening to Hank III (or his grandpa) for a while and then write a song and see if it's happy or sad. I think some of the best songs ever written were about lost love, drinking, dying, heartache and pain. To me..that's country.

Song Description

Who can't relate to sitting on a barstool asking yourself "why"? Plenty of soul searching takes place on a barstool and no doubt many problems are solved there too. Often times, folks realize only then the mistakes they've made and vow to never make them again..........but they do. It's the natural way of life. The best of intentions are often left sitting at the bar, drowning in a pool of whiskey or beer and perhaps a tear or two. Sit back and let the sounds of twin fiddles and a steel guitar take you on a journey through an empty soul - one that desperately needs and might even deserve, a second chance. A Lonely Fool indeed.

Lonely Fool

Lonely days, lonely nights, lonely barstool

Sittin? here, I?ve no tears left to cry

Lookin? back on my life, those years with you here by my side

Now alone, left to sit and wonder why

I wonder why did I let her come between us

I wonder why did I treat you so bad

I wonder why did I lie, why baby, why?d I make you cry

Lonely days, lonely nights, lonely fool

I call your number everyday, but there?s no answer

I call your name every night in my sleep

How I live from day to day, is on my knees, my Lord to pray

For my broken hearted lonesome soul to keep

I wonder why did I let her come between us

I wonder why did I treat you so bad

I wonder why did I lie, why baby, why did true love die

Lonely days, lonely nights, lonely fool

Lonely days, lonely nights, lonely fool
