Lyrics
You Just Can?t Win
By Mike Lewis
{Intro:}
{Verse 1:}
I had to tell her that I love her, tell her I love her so.
I sat her down, I told her straight, I had to let her know.
{Bridge:}
But policeman just don?t understand, that man just had to die.
I shot him right between the eyes, I just can?t tell no lie.
{Chorus:}
But I had to protect her.
He won?t hurt her again.
If you beat up on your woman, man
You know you just can?t win.
{Verse 2:}
The place was Mississippi.
He was black and she was white.
At that time and in that place
That love just wasn?t right.
So he kept an eye out for her
Sorta watched her from afar.
Til that night, there in his site.
He was beatin? her up in a bar.
{Chorus.}
{Solo Verse/Chorus.}
{Verse 3:}
So I told my story on the witness stand
Yeah I told that jury and judge.
The verdict came and it would remain,
That jury wouldn?t budge.
The judge said, ?Boy, gonna find a rope?
Hang you from the highest tree!?
I said, ?Your honor, I must apologize,
So would you pardon me??
{Chorus.}
{Chorus Out.}
