Story Behind The Song
My wife was leaving for a month overseas in the country of her birth and I asked her to pen some words about her homesickness for that country. In her absence this song formed. I have always been restless but am usually OK with my wife nearby. From the first chords/line I always imagined Rod Stewart singing this ... the "lad" who finally finds that love is at home. Could be sung by either male or female.

Lyrics
HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS
If home is where the heart is is it somewhere that I've been
So many friendly faces and places that I've seen
You'd think I'd know by now but I can't tell for sure
Exactly where my heart is I can't tell you any more
CHORUS
What is this thing that keeps me moving on
Follow the moon and chase the sun what else can I hope will thrill
My soul and stir my heart while my heart beats still
For as long as I remember I couldn't face routine
A stirring need that burned inside to see things I'd never seen
So many folk along the way I loved and left behind
As I moved to new horizons to some new thing I had to find
CHORUS
But recently I realised I no longer had to look
Just relax and see my life as if it were a book
What was really lying there just hidden by the view
Home is where the heart is and now I know it's true
Home's wherever you are because my heart belongs to you
