Better

Story Behind The Song

Everyone has feared at one time or another that they love someone MORE than the one loving them back. It's a story of insecurity in a relationship. How much love is too much? You don't want to scare the other person off, but you want to show them that you love them.

Song Description

"When you come around, I just feel better." Life is better with "you" in it. The character in the song is in love with a person, but the character doubts her/his own ability to love without being too "needy / clingy." She/he wants the other person to know how much they mean to her/him, but she/he is insecure about how much she/he can show without coming across as off-putting. The character in the song is calmed down/put at ease by the other person. And it's clear that the other person loves her/him back, but may not be as forceful with their feelings as the character is.

Lyrics

VERSE:
I've been thinking about this life
Maybe it's not easy, maybe it's not right
If you could come closer, I
Can start to feel ok tonight

Take me somewhere, some place quiet
Talk to me, say something to make me smile
I know I'm too much sometimes
But I hope you'll stay with me a while

CHORUS:
And I hope maybe you can tell me something
I hope, maybe you can show me something
I don't know
When you come around, I just feel better

VERSE:
Now I start to lose my mind a little
When you take yourself away
I know I want too much, of you
You're so sweet to never say

CHORUS:
And I hope maybe you can tell me something
I hope, maybe you can show me something
I don't know
When you come around, I just feel better

BRIDGE:
I wish I could be something more.

CHORUS:
And I hope maybe you can tell me something
I hope, maybe you can show me something
I don't know
When you come around, I just feel better
When you come around, I just feel better
When you come around, I just feel better
When you come around
