Story Behind The Song
This song is about a friend of mine who wanted something more out of life than she was getting at the time. She was from an unaccomplished family in a small town and she decided that she was going to be different than her family and make something out of herself. She made big plans to leave her small town and go away to New York City and pursue a creative career. This song was written about her getting ready to go.

Lyrics
Take Your Place
Yolanda lived out on the highway by the track
One day she said that she would leave and not come back
No one believed her, she was just a small town girl
But she knew that she was different
She had a vision and it lived inside her head
Of a big bright city full of promise and instead
Of a job down on main at the El Gitano
She knew she wanted something different
Are you ready, are you ready now?
Do you know, are you ready?
You don?t have to come back
But I can tell I can tell by the smile on your face
That it?s time for you to take your place
She packed her bags and she said her last goodbyes
Her heart was anxious and still pushed her on for more
For more than this small sleepy town could offer
She left to carve out something different
And I won?t forget you, so don?t you worry now
Cause I can?t forget you, how could I now
So won?t you tell me where you?re going
And how and when you?ll get there
Won?t me write me a letter and
Tell me how things are better for you now
So your time here, it?s over now
Do you know, it?s over
You don?t have to come back
But I can tell, I can tell by the smile on your face
That it?s time for you to take your place
