Story Behind The Song
I got the idea for the song when I heard someone off the cuff improvise a worship song about how we're all like the prostitute who washed Jesus' feet with her tears. Technically, I structured the song after Lonestar's "I'm Already There", though the melody, chords, lyrics, tempo and subject matter are totally different. The song would be best with harmony, of course
Song Description
The song is about a man who finds out his wife is cheating on him. She comes back from church in a repentant attitude. He doesn't know what to do, whether to forgive her or reject her. In the second verse, he remembers how he met her in high school and how they fell in love. He wonders if his taking her for granted was partly to blame. Still, how could she do this. Finally, after her tears falling on his shoe trigger a picture of Jesus and the repentant prostitute, he embraces and forgives her in the last chorus.

Lyrics
She left for church that night
She said there was a meetin?
Yeh there was a time he?d buy it but no more
He called the private eye
He recently had hired
When he heard the news a tear fell to the floor
They caught the two of them one night
In infrared and black and white
Just then she walked through the door
What should he do?
As she falls into his arms
And she cries ?Oh how I hurt you!?
And an aching fills his heart
She begs him to forgive her
Inside a voice shouts ?never!?
Can her words really be true
What should he do? What should he do?
His mind fell on the past
To that red haired girl in high school
To his first love that he knew would be his last
And the strength he finally mustered up
To tell her that he loved her
And the wedding that could never come too fast
That was so very long ago
Did he slowly let her go?
But still how could she take such a path
What should he do?
As she looks into his eyes
And she says, ?I was so wrong
Cause I?ve come to realize
That you?re the only one
Please forgive what I have done?
He stands there arms stuck like glue
What should he do? What should he do?
Her tears poured down and rained on his shoes
Like the tears that washed the Master?s feet then he knew what he should do
So what should he do
But to take her in his arms
And to tell her ?I forgive you
And I?ll keep you from all harm
Cause I knew it from the start
That you?d never leave my heart?
After that what should he do
But to kiss her tender lips and to tell her ?I love you?
What should he do, but to tell her ?I love you?
