Story Behind The Song
I love listening to Country ballads and I love writing them. It occured to me that the real me at this time in my life reflects this attitude of gratitude, so I wrote this song of "complaint" about being so thankful.
Song Description
The fun of the song is that this guy wants to sing the country "blues", but his life is more like the country bliss. In the process of relizing just how good he has it, we realize how good we have it if we've been given someone to love, a roof over our heads, and a great country to live in. Of course the song communicates this in a humerous way.

Lyrics
Well I love to sing about kickin? it up
Shoutin?, carousin?, and kickin? butt
Over the woman who left me and the loser she found
And how she caught me sneakin? around
But the truth is that I love my wife and kids
So let me drive it home the way it really is
Filled to the grill with a tank of the best
Pure unleaded thankfulness
I?m headed down the highway of life
Cruisin? somewhere about 55
For me that?s pedal to the metal
Cause I ain?t exactly tempermental
See I sort of got a mental
Attitude...
Of gratitude
I got an attitude...of gratitude
And I could tell you ("I'd love to tell you" might be better) that I hate my job
And that I?d love to shove it to that son of a slob
At five o?clock you know where I?d be
Drinkin and thinkin I?m glad to be free
But the truth is that my job is such a gift
So let me drive it home so you can get the drift
Filled to the grill with a tank of the best
Pure unleaded thankfulness
I?m headed down the highway of life
Cruisin? somewhere about 55
For me that?s pedal to the metal
Cause I ain?t exactly tempermental
See I sort of got a mental
Attitude...
Of gratitude
I got an attitude...of gratitude
I?m stuck with this thing called happiness
Oh man, I got all the luck
My contentment takes my resentment out back
And just- kicks it in the butt
And I could complain ("I'd love to complain" might be better) that the world?s gone to hell
How nobody cares if I stumbled and fell
I'd love to whine that things ain?t fair
And nothin? makes sense no way nowhere
But why do that ("But I can't do that" might be better) when my hand?s in the hand of the Man
And I love this place under God on which I stand
Oh, I?m Filled to the grill with a tank of the best
Pure unleaded thankfulness
I?m headed down the highway of life
Cruisin? somewhere about 55
For me that?s pedal to the metal
Cause I ain?t exactly tempermental
See I sort of got a mental
Attitude.
From the beatitudes
I got an attitude...
Of gratitude
I got an attitude...
Of gratitude
I got an attitude...
Of gratitude
Stick the pedal to the metal boys
I got an attitude of gratitude
