Lyrics

Verse 1:

The men in red with muskets / marched quick down off the ridge
But formed in ranks to face them / stood our men at Concord Bridge

With steely eyes our Captain kneeled / and with his sword in hand
Scratched swift the earth before his men / a line drawn in the sand

As the Red Coats marched on forward / our Captain turned and said
"Not one of 'em gets past us / we fight until we're dead"

Chorus A:

Sing a song of peace and freedon
all across our native land
Sing a song to praise our heroes
at that line drawn in the sand

Verse 2:

And then again years later / on Pearl Harbor's tranquil shore
In early Sunday morning's glint / an enemy struck once more

As bombs rained down in terror / our men fought true and brave
But surprise had won the upper hand / our heroes met their grave

An Admiral slogged the wreckage / by the bodies in the bay
Drew his sword and sliced the earth / a line scratched in the clay

"They get no further, sailors / here's as far as they will go
Our nation's furious muster now / will strike a mighty blow!"

Chorus B:

Pray now for peace and freedom
and the deeds we can't repay
Pray now and praise our heroes
at that line drawn in the clay

Verse 3:

Twin towers of steel soared skyward / at Manhattan's World of Trade
But before we knew what happened / each took a murderous raid

Down choking stairs of ghastly smoke / our people rushed to flee
Up stairs marched Fire and Rescue / the bravest of the free

But the reeling towers were fated / and came crashing to the ground
Silence fell 'midst the choking ash / but then... there came a sound

"Hang in there" groaned a Fireman / as he dragged a woman through
"Not far now, mister" came a call / from a wearing Man in Blue

As our people dragged our people / from the wreckage of the crash
A New World stood before us / 'round those trails plowed in the ash

Break:

But the nay-sayers said we couldn't...
And the cowards said we shouldn't...

Chorus C:

Stand up for peace and freedom
and to honor those who led
Our men of Concord Bridge and Pearl
and our 9-11 dead

Stand up with strength to fight the fight
an endless twilight clash
Stand up with strength to form that line...
in the sand... and clay... and ash
