Story Behind The Song

The melody came about when I was listening to J S Bach's inventions. I envisioned writing a short invention for a female friend of mine named Elizabeth Torres back in 1986). Her boyfriend at the time was a classical pianist--he dismissed my melody as trite and "nothing close" to an invention. So in retaliation, I decided to write a pop tune around it instead. She liked the tune (and dumped the guy--not because of me, but because he was an arrogant bastard). Originally, the song was much slower, like a ballad, but it went nowhere in my mind, so I shelved it. Recently, I brought it out again and played it faster with a different feel. It felt better as a faster piece, so I rerecorded it. My bandmate Tim supplied the lead vocals so that we could reproduce it live at gigs.

Song Description

It is a song about love at first sight, thinking to self about how to win over the love, and then being surprised that the other person is interested back and comes over to say so!
