Lyrics

Up in Alaska
Fighting the cold
On a fishing ship
Huddled deep in the hold

All of the sudden
The Skipper calls my name
"Hey Kid,"
Tell that story once again.

They all leaned in
And held their cup of joe.
My white breath
Drifted cross the table slow.

As I began,
A howl screamed though the mast
My heart pounded
And the words flew out so fast.

And the waves rose up
And the bow crashed down
The thunder
Roared a glorious sound
And, the Captain said,
"Don't worry friend,"
We'll stay to the end.

Listen my friends,
Hold steady your bones
This is the tale
Of a young Davy Jones.

He rode the wind.
Flew high in the rain.
Danced the waves
But his joy was all in vain.

Comes to pleasure
He never got his fill
But, he was all alone
Come time to pay the bill.

Whoa to young Davy
When it first became plain
The deep has no bottom
and the bottom has no drain.

Chorus

No one knows
Where it started to go wrong
The ship rolled
And the lights were all gone.

The hull caved in
And the water started to rise
The first time
I saw fear in the Captain's eyes.

All I know
As we started to descend
The Captain cried out
"Kid, skip to the end."

I dig the dark tone and the way it jumps right into the story!

Beautiful singer/songwriter composition. I love story songs. This song has a ton of potential. I think the vocal match for the story is perfect. The guitar playing is very good.
