Story Behind The Song

My mother - who lives overseas - was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. This song was inspired by the desire to go to her and take care of her, to give back the love and sacrifice she has given me all these years.

Lyrics

Fragile Years

It's 5 a.m. in a northern town
You're sitting all alone
You couldn't sleep, afraid to dream
Now you're staring at the phone

You don't remember the names of everyone
in the pictures on the wall
Your rocking chair is keeping time
with the old clock in the hall

Chorus
In your fragile years, I will come to you
And be there by your side
As you're laying down, and letting go
In the winter of your life
Your fragile years

It's 9 am in the heartland
My plane is touching down
My father comes to meet me there
With a smile that hides a frown

I'm haunted by the lullaby
you used to sing to me
I'll play the tunes you used to love,
maybe read some poetry

Though you may not recognize me
That won't keep me away
You were always there for me
Now I'm here for you today
