We Say Let's Have Peace

Story Behind The Song

When I was watching the news over and over during the Golf War I was saddened knowing that many people were suffering from bombings. The news reported the same stories of people grabbing everything in sight and fleeing from the war. It made me write this song. Then 10 years later, when the Trade Center towers were attacked, I returned to my song with more refined reflection on what is happening with people and war overseas and at home. Once again seeing refugees packing everything in sight to flee from bombings, I found myself with the same song but cynicism that even though we want peace, we all will fight until the end of the last war.

Song Description

Reflection on life in war and wonderment on how people survive. Life is already hard enough, people have a million feelings that get complicated when living through war. When you see people losing everything and everyone they have, you ask yourself, is this meaningless. When the war begins you see the truth of its impact with people grabbing what they can and running for their lives. Most of us say we want peace, and yet we still go to war. However, no matter what side you are on, you fight to the end.

Lyrics

Sittin' here watchin' the news.
Man I wonder how we ever get by
some don't;
glad to see you.

In the life it's hard enough
to have a million feelings
going on inside;
deep inside.

We say let's have peace;
still we go to war.
We do stand in the line of fire,
here to survive until the end of the last war.

Can it be so meaningless?
People losing everything in sight
on earth;
it's a fight!

Moments come
no time to think.
Pack it up
live another day
come on!
Hear this cry.

We say let's have peace;
still we go to war.
We do stand in the line of fire,
here to survive until the end of the last war.
