That little white Ford Escort was my grandma?s only car.
She never drove it very fast, and she never drove it far -
Around the town to shops and friends and anyone could see
That Escort meant the world to her, ?cause it made her feel so free.

I was going on 18, I was hungry for some wheels -
Spinning dreams of freedom, every teen knows how that feels.
I worked nights, but cash was short, ?cause I was college bound,
And I had to ask my folks to drive me all around this town.
