say something nice to me

Story Behind The Song

I had a terrible fight with a lover and had been particularly hurtful and critical, kicking them out of my house. I stomped downstairs waiting for and fully expecting a tender apology, but after hearing a car door slam, I was furious ran out and threw a rock at the car screeming. After I went back in the house I immediately started feeling panic and fear that I may have really pushed too far this time... like my high horse was too high and I wanted to ask for forgiveness, and to be sweet and tender.... just a huge dramatic flip, when you get called on your own stuff.

Lyrics

say something nice to me

You've got a troubled mind, all the time
I can see that I'm taking up too much room
But this is my place,
I'll throw you out today
You better get down here and beg me to stay
Oh, I've felt this way before baby and
Oh, I?m familiar with the door going both ways and
Oh better get off that high horse of yours
And say something nice to me

You won't leave, that's no threat to me
I'll just give you till I count to one two three
So you say you'll be gone by day
Well there's the door, I believe you know the way
This is nothing cus
Oh I've been in love before and I know
You'll be knocking soon at that very same door
But oh I?m feeling too high up on this horse
Come say something nice to me, baby

Oh what have I done this time
I've opened that big mouth of mine
Oh sitting in this fear of mine thinking
Oh no, I threw a rock at your car as you peeled out the drive
And oh, I?m feeling too high on this high horse of mine
Come say something nice to me

The panic?s climbing up my spine
I'll be sweeter than honey, fresh from the bee
Come on sugar, please, please forgive me

Cus oh, I want your love for mine baby and
Oh, I won't let my fear get in the way this time and
Oh I'm off that high horse of mine
I'll say something nice to you
