I Found Jesus On The Jailhouse Floor

Story Behind The Song

This is a true story of one of the writers of the song, finding himself in jail, reflecting on the direction his life was taking and determined to make changes in his life. He called from jail telling me " your not going to believe this but I found God in here". I told him that he could say "I found Jesus on the jailhouse floor". About a year or year and a half later, when he was released from jail we sat down and wrote this song.

Lyrics

I FOUND JESUS ON THE JAIL HOUSE FLOOR 2003©

I woke up on the concrete
Staring at those dirty walls
Praying for salvation
All I could do was crawl
There?s people spending fortunes
Trying to get in heavens door
But I found Jesus on the jailhouse floor

Now I'm down here on my knees
Trying to save what?s left of me
Cursing all the hell I've been through
No those honky tonks an barrooms
Won?t see my face no more
I found Jesus on the jailhouse floor

What mama always told me
Now I finely understand
I've put my faith in him now
My life is in his hands
Won?t be running with the devil
Like so many nights before
Cause I found Jesus on the jailhouse floor
