Story Behind The Song
When I was in university, I had a friend from Indonesia studying in Melbourne. He used to be somewhat of a monk and he would tell me a lot of the things he had seen and witnessed and how he felt about them. I was trying to write the lyrics to this song when he sat next to me. I remember it was autumn because red leaves carpeted the ground. We just had a conversation and from this conversation came the words and phrases that I eventually made into the story of this protagonist. Without him, this song may not have been the same. This song reminds me of him?wherever he is.
Song Description
This song is about about a man who used to be in the military or a militia. He had followed orders in the past. As a political tool, he had done well to execute those orders. But now, in his later years, far away from a war he could not forget, his conscience and his senses have come back to haunt him. There?s only one person left in this world as a source of strength, comfort and hope - Amber.

Lyrics
My eyes are red,
Red from the blood,
That stains the past that never seems to leave.
I am haunted by places,
Tormented faces,
With words I can barely bring myself to hear.
(chorus)
In the weariness of one twilight hour,
I found true pain and it seems eternal.
I will light a fire, to keep me warm in here,
And hope to live and see another light of day.
(back to chorus)
Amber,
Tonight, let me sleep, please hold my thoughts.
Hold their spirits hold their troubled souls.
