TEE SHIRT ON HIS PILLOW

Story Behind The Song

this song was inspired by a war wife in my church giving reports on sunday's of her husbands life in Iraq .........also while watching the evening news of soldiers at the airport with their loved ones waiting to leaving for Iraq and how they exspected to be home in a year or so........the tee shirt seemed to the writers ,,,an obvious event to take place in the absence of these husbands for the duration of his service our prayers are with each soldier and family. Our intent was to let them know we understand what the're going through and hopefully provide some comfort in this song

Lyrics

She wrapped her arms around his neck
She was starin right at her watch
And oh it looked so out of place
On his desert camoflauge

As the hours turned to minutes
The minutes turned to tears
She prayed God to keep him safe
And return him within the year

She watches war news on tv
And every day waits on his call
And every night on her knees
Askin God don't let him fall
Stuffed a pillow in his camo t-shirt
Where she lays her head
Set her watch on the nightstand
And snuggles into bed

1st Chorus:
And now the minutes turned to hours
And the hours turned to tears
Every night he's not home
Gets closer to a year

With his camo in the bed
In her dreams he is so near
She holds on to his pillow
Til God brings back him here

Now he's sleepin in the sand
And scorchin in the heat
And what he'd give for just one night
To feel her toes touch his feet
Wtih a buried head as the bullets fly
And tear drops in his hands
He prays to God to protect him
When its time to make his stand

2nd Chorus:
And now the minutes turn to hours
And the hours turn to tears
Every night he's not home
Gets closer to a year

He knew a day could come
When his Uncle Sam would call
Now a t-hshirt on his pillow
Fills in for the long haul
