Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song as a means of putting a psalm to music. I chose psalm 130 because it spoke of hope and trusting in the Lord, which I've always considered to be a good starting point. This song was recorded by Everyoneday, a band I was in from 2000 to 2004, as part of the "seed" project, in which a number of New Zealand christian artists were invited to record songs that would draw young people into the message of the bible (check out www.seedcd.co.nz).

Lyrics
OUT OF THE DEPTHS
VERSE 1
Out of the depths I cry for you
You are my Lord, you are my Lord
Please hear my cry for mercy
Hear my voice, hear my voice
Won't you hear my voice
CHORUS
And I wait on the Lord
In His word I put my hope
My soul waits on the Lord
More than a watchman for the dawn
And I wait on the Lord
In His word I put my hope
My soul waits for you yeah
VERSE 2
If you, oh Lord, kept a record of sin
Who could stand? Who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness
You are feared, you are feared
How we fear you Lord
CHORUS
And I wait on the Lord
In His word I put my hope
My soul waits on the Lord
More than a watchman for the dawn
And I wait on the Lord
In His word I put my hope
My soul waits you
How we wait for you
Oh my soul it waits
