Balloon

Story Behind The Song

A lot of my musician peers and friends are more famous than me now... some have remained true to themselves and not gotten caught up in their own issues, others not so much.

Song Description

Some bigshot fellow musician has gotten too big for his/her britches and thinks that now they can afford a big pretty house and lots of stuff that they'll be better off. Really the road to the top is lonely and tough and when you step on the people that have supported you they will leave you... as it "you might find your house is haunted" by all the mean and vain and selfish choices you made to get there and "who will be there to comfort you?" No one. So I'll just "bite my tongue."

Lyrics

What a waste, what a way to go, when your pain is so comfortable.
You must be laughing inside.
It's just a house, it's just a place, you know. What a weight, but what a show.
You must be choking on the pride. Oh oh..
Who am I to say I've seen you better before now
And what can I do if you think you're just fine?
Maybe your balloon will keep you up somehow, I guess I'll just bide my time.
Funny thing with all that stuff you own, funny thing, you're still alone.
You must be smiling inside...
This is what you said you always wanted, no matter who is going to step on who.
One day you might find your house is haunted and who will be there to comfort you?
Who am I to say I've seen you better before now,
And what can I do if you think you're just fine?
Maybe your balloon will burst itself somehow, I guess I'll just bite my tongue.
