Story Behind The Song
Matt had some of the music already written. Rodney began writing lyrics dealing with his trucker brother and how much he loved driving but loved home, too. Some of the lyrics such as "Leave the porch light on and hot biscuits on the table" are actual statements from Rodney's brother.

Lyrics
Across the highway dance the ghosts of the powerlines
A Van Gogh sun paints a picture in my mind
A song sings to me from the radio
Better get this rig moving 'cause I'm coming home
Riding the highway's the only life I've ever known
My rig's a broncing buck on life's black-topped rodeo
I know the face and number of every high line pole
Sometimes it seems the diesel soaks down to your soul
I'll be home as soon as I am able
Leave the porch light on
And hot biscuits on the table
Green grass and blue skies
Green grass and blue skies
Green grass and blue skies
Green grass and blue skies
I'll be home as soon as I am able
Leave the porch light on
And hot biscuits on the table
