The Warning Signs

What, what do you do?
When you know she?s not through with the past?
When you know she?s questioning,
Could it have lasted longer could it have been stronger?
She throws out her excuses, my fears caught in my way
My selfishness played many tricks on me
Or my timing was always wrong

What, what do you do?
When you know he?s not through with the past?
When you know he?s wondering
Could it have lasted longer? Could it have been stronger?
He throws out his excuses; my will is all that I wanted
I neglected to see there was someone who dared to love me
You see it was always about me

And they both sing
Hush, hush dry your eyes
We both missed the warning signs
I believed the world only happened to me
I convinced myself once your heart was captured
My work was through
Now I feel the price paid for ignoring you.

A single tear on each cheek
Without words they are able to speak
They both now understand the magnitude
Of their decisions and their regrets.

And they both sing
Remember our first kisses
Our souls were lit on fire
Believing your were my one desire.
We pledged in sickness and in health
For better or for worse
We forgot to have, to hold and to cherish
We forgot to have to hold and to cherish.
